Thank you for considering BACKLAND Expedition Gear Ltd ( "BACKLAND" / "our" ) products.
WARRANTY & LIMITATION OF LIABILITY POLICY
Upon proceeding with this transaction, you are relinquishing your right to negotiate and acknowledging the terms of this agreement, which include restrictions on liability and indemnification. Failure to consent or comply will result in Backland's inability to offer services or sell relevant parts to you.
This Policy covers the replacement of a BACKLAND part with a new manufactured part or a similar, acceptable quality replacement or reconditioned part. Any costs associated with shipping, customization, installation, or other expenses are not included and are the responsibility of the buyer. Please refer to the terms, disclaimers, and limitations on liability outlined in this Policy for more information.
BACKLAND Expedition Gear parts and Services are covered by a warranty.
BACKLAND-Manufactured Parts
BACKLAND is proud to offer a six (6) month warranty on its variety of parts, all bearing the BACKLAND logo. If a BACKLAND manufactured part fails, not due to any misuse, as described in this Policy, BACKLAND will replace the affected manufactured BACKLAND part. The replacement part may be a new manufactured BACKLAND part, or a replacement or reconditioned part of similar and acceptable quality, subject to the terms, disclaimers, and limitations on liability contained in this Policy. Shipping, customization, installation or any other costs will not be covered.
This Policy covers the replacement of a BACKLAND part with a new manufactured part or a similar, acceptable quality replacement or reconditioned part. Any costs associated with shipping, customization, installation, or other expenses are not included and are the responsibility of the buyer.
The warranty of third party products sold by BACKLAND or on BACKLAND's website are the responsibility of the manufacturer. Customers should contact those companies directly for any warranty issues.
If a warranty claim is made, the product will be either repaired or replaced with comparable parts (based on availability) or updated parts. In the case of discontinuation, we will make every effort to address any issues. If the item cannot be fixed or replaced and is no longer available, you will receive store credit.
BACKLAND Installation Services
BACKLAND takes great pride in the quality and workmanship of our own manufactured parts, as well as third-party parts purchased from BACKLAND. To ensure the highest standards, BACKLAND offers a six (6) month warranty on the installation of all BACKLAND and third-party parts purchased through us. Please note that BACKLAND will only install third-party parts that are purchased directly from us.
Rust – Limited Warranty
BACKLAND is committed to reducing the risk of rust on our parts. We utilize a zinc primer and powder coating or INDY coating, along with stainless steel hardware, to effectively mitigate rust accumulation. For added assurance, our products are backed by a 90-day warranty against rust accumulation.
Claims & Replacement Parts
When completing a transaction with BACKLAND, make sure to thoroughly read this Policy first. If you have a warranty claim, please re-read the entire Policy and then contact the BACKLAND team at info@backlandgear.com. Clearly indicate that you are pursuing a warranty claim in the subject line and include all relevant details about the order, including customer, order number, receipt, description of the issue, pictures, etc. This will allow us to quickly assess the claim and provide any necessary parts and repairs.
If a mistake happened on your shipment, and an incorrect item was shipped to you, BACKLAND will send the correct item at no cost (shipping and custom duty fee included) as soon as possible, and send a return label to have the unwanted goods returned to us. Note that BACKLAND shall not be held accountable for any consequential, incidental, indirect, lost revenues, lost profits, delay in your van conversion, special, punitive, or exemplary damages (whether in contract or tort or under any other theory of liability) under this agreement.
Disclaimers
Non-BACKLAND manufactured parts, also known as third-party parts.
It is solely the customer's responsibility to inquire about any potential warranties for third-party parts, as listed express warranties may or may not be available on the BACKLAND website. BACKLAND does not make any warranties or claims regarding the performance of these third-party parts as BACKLAND is not the manufacturer. However, convenience-wise, BACKLAND may provide access to the warranty policies of the respective manufacturers on their website.
Not Properly Utilized
By following intended use, the warranty for BACKLAND parts will remain in effect for the consumer. Any form of misuse, improper use, gross negligence, or negligence will result in voiding the BACKLAND warranty.
Self-Installation & Specific Parts
Please note that many, if not all, of the parts manufactured by BACKLAND and third-party are specifically made for a particular model of vehicle. It is imperative that you do not purchase a BACKLAND-manufactured or third-party part directly from BACKLAND and try to install it on a different vehicle model. If you have any doubts about the compatibility of a specific part offered by BACKLAND, please reach out to their support team through the contact information on their website, backlandgear.com. Additionally, it is important to always follow the merchant's instructions, even if they conflict with the rewrite instructions or the legal tone used for this product description.
Sales of products with cosmetic defects.
BACKLAND may offer BACKLAND-manufactured parts with cosmetic damage. These parts are structurally sound and covered under the BACKLAND-manufactured part warranty, but are sold AS-IS. Accepting any cosmetic deficiency of these parts is the responsibility of the customer.
Original Customer Only
BACKLAND's warranty shall only extend to the original customer. No transfer, of any kind, of the internally manufactured BACKLAND part or the vehicle for which the BACKLAND-manufactured part was installed is permitted under this Policy. Any such transfer will void BACKLAND's Policy. It's not transferable to others, but it will give you the confidence you need as the original customer.Damage and depreciation - Excluded
BACKLAND's warranty under this Policy does not cover defects or failure in any parts due to natural aging and wear, as these are inevitable and can occur even with the strongest parts. Wear and tear may also result from lack of proper maintenance. For illustration purposes only, common parts that are susceptible to wear and tear, such as powder-coated or painted products used as mounting items, trays or ladders, are not covered by BACKLAND's warranty.

- Normal wear and tear
- Defects caused by abuse or misuse
- Usage in a rental environment
Other Warranties May be Affected
It is the customer's sole responsibility to inquire about and understand any possible warranty policies that may be affected by the installation of BACKLAND-manufactured parts or third-party parts purchased through BACKLAND. Additionally, please note that the installation of these parts may require temporally or permanently removal of existing parts on the vehicle, which could potentially impact its handling, performance, and overall performance measures. By agreeing to install BACKLAND-manufactured parts or third-party parts purchased through BACKLAND, the customer acknowledges and assumes the risk of potential warranty invalidation and changes in vehicle performance.
The potential impact on the safety system.
Installation of after-market parts on your vehicle by BACKLAND requires repositioning of original components, such as sensors, calibrators, and airbags, which are integral parts of the vehicle's safety system. BACKLAND does not perform safety testing on the effects of these changes and cannot predict how they may impact the functionality of the safety system. These original components are crucial to the crashworthiness of your vehicle in the case of a collision. BACKLAND does not conduct safety testing on the impact of their own aftermarket parts on crashworthiness. However, aftermarket manufacturers state that the parts, when recalibrated, should function safely. BACKLAND cannot verify these claims and defers all safety and functionality claims to the aftermarket manufacturers. BACKLAND makes no guarantees about the impact of their parts on your vehicle's safety system, including parts they manufacture directly.
All customers using aftermarket parts and using Backland's services are liable for any changes made to their vehicle's safety system. It is the customer's responsibility to inform all occupants of the vehicle about these modifications. The customer also assumes responsibility for any other vehicles or occupants involved in a potential collision or related incident with a vehicle containing a modification to its safety system, including Backland-installed aftermarket bumpers.BACKLAND shall not be held accountable for any consequential, incidental, indirect, lost revenues, lost profits, special, punitive, or exemplary damages (whether in contract or tort or under any other theory of liability) under this agreement.
NOTICE: Certain parts listed on our website, whether made by BACKLAND or third-parties and sold through BACKLAND, may contain chemicals that are known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Work performed on your vehicle:
As per our company policy, it is solely your responsibility to thoroughly examine the work completed on your vehicle upon its return. In the unlikely circumstance that there are any defects in materials or workmanship, please notify BACKLAND within 24 hours of picking up your vehicle. No exceptions will be made.
Due to the customized and made-to-order nature of some of our products, these sales are deemed final. However, if you encounter a manufacturing defect in your product, we will replace it free of charge (excludes shipping costs and duties). Please keep in mind that any additional work or accessories are not included in our coverage, such as painting, INDY Protective Coating, windows, or installation fees. Also, please note that BACKLAND is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or fines resulting from the use of our parts and accessories. It is your responsibility as the customer to ensure that any products purchased from BACKLAND are compliant with local laws and regulations.
Storage of Your Vehicle:
Please note that Backland will store your vehicle for the duration of installation and for up to 48 hours after installation. It is the owner's responsibility to pick up their vehicle within 48 hours after installation otherwise storage fees will apply at $20.00 CAD per day.
By leaving your vehicle at our location you understand that Backland may not have the space to store your vehicle inside and has limited exterior parking spaces. You also understand that Backland cannot be held liable for any theft or damage on the vehicle before the installation day or after the 48 hours.
We have designed our Catalytic Converter Protection Plate to deter Catalytic Converter theft. So if you are concerned about the theft of your Catalytic Converter while parked outside we highly recommend purchasing a protection plate to reduce the risk of theft.
Terms and Conditions
BACKLAND holds no responsibility for unforeseen liabilities or predetermined damages.
Notwithstanding any conflicting terms and conditions, our liability is solely limited to the amount paid for the product. By using this website and placing an order, the customer agrees to our terms and conditions.
Estimated delivery dates are provided by the seller and are not guaranteed. The carrier is considered an agent of the seller and is not liable for any delays or failures in delivery.
Due to a lack of published data from Mercedes Benz, BACKLAND is unable to provide guaranteed load-bearing specifications for the rear door hinges on the Sprinter van.
All Intellectual Property, copyrights, and trademarks are and will remain the sole property of BACKLAND Expedition Gear Ltd.
