What Is a Rock Slider?

A rock slider is a heavy-duty, reinforced metal bar or panel installed along the sides of off-road vehicles like trucks and vans. While traditional rock sliders protect against impacts from rocks and obstacles, Sprinter vans feature unibody construction, which means they cannot support the weight of a van like rock sliders on ladder-frame trucks. Instead, the APEX Series Rock Sliders are designed to provide exceptional protection against side impacts and obstacles while also acting as side steps for easy access to your van.

Safe Recovery and Lifting Recommendations

While our APEX Rock Sliders provide excellent side protection, they are not designed to support the weight of a 9,000-11,000 lb Sprinter Van when lifting. For safe lifting and recovery, we recommend using a Hi-Lift LM-100 Lift-Mate or a 12,000 lb winch for recovery. If you need to replace a tire, the Mercedes bottle jack is the safest option for lifting from the rear axle or front trailing arm.
